We bought this 1985 Tiga Sports-2000 and planned to do several VS2 races this year, unfortunately at the VSCDA Gingerman Drivers School the Ford Pinto engine developed a rod knock so now we are waiting for the engine to be rebuilt. My BIG QUESTION is why doesn't this group allow the Ford Zetec ZX-3 2 liter dual overhead camshaft engine like Formula Continental? As I understand it there is no advantage to one engine or the other except cost and availability. I would like to hear from the racers what the groups opinion is. Pinto engine builders are starting to go by the wayside, parts are becoming very difficult to find and very costly. A catestophic failure is ~$12,000, a rebuild/freshen is ~$7,000. I think its time to add the Zetec motor to the clubs rules. By the way this is my second Sports-2000, I used to race a 1984 SC84 in SCCA nationals from 1990 to 1999.
