SVRA Vintage Grand Prix Mid-Ohio June/ 22 & 23 /2019

After last years 95 degree temps and 100% humidity this years SVRA event at Mid-Ohio graced us with perfect weather ( if you don’t count the wet test day on Thursday ) Friday through Sunday were perfect and the 22 S2000 entries had a lot to look forward to.

On Saturday 6/22 our first feature race go off to a rousing start when Brent Gernert spun on the first lap and picked his way back through the field to finish fifth. The overall race was won by John Thompson with Rob Sherwood and Edward Guenther in toe.

Our second feature race, held on Sunday, saw Gernert start fifth and quickly move into third behind Sherwood. For all but the last two laps Sherwood and Gernert ran a quick and clean race. When Gernert finally managed to get by Sherwood there were only two laps left. Setting his sites on John Thompson, Gernert managed to finish second a mere two car lengths down.

There was good clean racing up and down the field as Simon Green came back fro a year off and won both features in VS2. A special tip of the helmet to Tom Kane who finished fourth overall in both races in his HS2 Tiga.
