"The Fun One" Watkins Glen, NY

We had great weather during “The Fun One” presented by the SCCA from 9/16 thru 9/18. Twenty-two S2’s were entered and the SCCA kindly gave us our own race group. Saturdays race on the Gran Prix course saw spirited racing all through the field with Brent Gernert besting pole sitter John Thompson. Sunday we ran the short (NASCAR) course with good racing again all throughout the field. The battle at the front was clean and fast as Thompson, Rob Sherwood, Henry Payne V, and Brent Gernert all were within .730 of a second of each other. Gerenrt finally made a pass of Payne in turn 10 to eke out a win by .258 of a second.
